Victim Advocates Back Spitzer

July 18, 2017

While Rackauckas lets victims down, Spitzer is the clear choice for crime victims due to his unwavering commitment to victims for more than 25 years

Orange County, CA - - Today, former Assistant DA and current Orange County Supervisor Todd Spitzer, officially became the crime victims’ advocate in the race for District Attorney, by unveiling endorsements from California’s major victims’ rights agency leaders and victims’ families. The endorsements demonstrate Spitzer is the only candidate in this race who can be trusted to stand up for crime victims’ rights and public safety to keep the residents of Orange County safe.

The Spitzer for District Attorney campaign announced the following endorsements today:

Patricia Almazan, daughter of Graphic artist and CSUF employee Frank Teplansky who was murdered at CSUF 41 years ago

Supervisor Spitzer has a track record standing up for victims as an Assistant District Attorney, LAPD Reserve Police Officer and as an elected official. While a State Assemblyman, Spitzer was the Statewide Chairman for Marsy’s Law for California (Prop. 9, Nov. 2008), the most comprehensive Victims’ Rights Constitutional protection in the Nation, and Joint Authored Megan’s Law on the Internet (AB 488, Parra and Spitzer) that created the landmark on-line database for the public to search for registration and residency information for convicted sex offenders. As an Assistant DA Spitzer, has secured justice for victims and put hundreds of violent criminals behind bars. While a line prosecutor, Spitzer was awarded Orange County Prosecutor of the Year in the District Attorney’s Office as chosen by his peer line prosecutors.

Paul Wilson, husband of Christy Lynn Wilson who was killed in the Salon Meritage shooting in Seal Beach, said “Families of the victims from the Salon Beach massacre have been left to suffer by Tony Rackauckas who has failed to bring justice for the victims. Long-time victims’ rights advocate, Todd Spitzer, has the energy, vision and commitment to right this wrong and restore our faith in the justice system of Orange County. We can count on criminals staying behind bars and victims getting the justice they deserve with Spitzer as our next District Attorney. I urge all residents of Orange County to vote Spitzer for DA.”

Patricia Wenskunas, Founder, CEO of Crime Survivors stated, "No victim should ever feel left behind or that their voice is not heard. As a pioneer of the most comprehensive Victims’ Bill of Rights, Todd Spitzer has been and remains one of the most vocal advocates for victims and their families. Todd fights for the most vulnerable and I'm proud to give him my full support. Todd is a leader with integrity that I trust to fight for victims and their families. As a survivor myself, and a community leader, I personally support Todd Spitzer for District Attorney.”

Spitzer stated, “I am truly humbled and honored to have earned their support. These endorsements mean the world to me, nothing is more gratifying than knowing you have made a difference to those who suffered the loss of a loved one. As your District Attorney, I will stop at nothing to guarantee our safety and justice for all—I have dedicated my life to protecting the public.”
